Vipers eliminate Mbarara City to reach second consecutive Uganda Cup final

Vipers SC have moved a step closer to winning their second consecutive Stanbic Uganda Cup title after beating Mbarara City 6-1 on aggregate to reach the final.

Following a 1-2 away victory in first leg at Kakyeka, the Venoms who have already won the league and are now chasing a domestic double, emphatically finished the job at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday evening.

Despite putting up a formidable resistance in the first 45 minutes of the game, the visitors finally gave up in the second half and started allowing in goals.

First, it was Skipper Halid Lwaliwa, Milton Karisa followed before Yunus Ssentamu and Bobosi Byaruhanga made sure the holders not only convincingly take the day but also return to the final.

Vipers SC now take on the winner between BUL and Booma in the final.

BUL FC and Booma FC will face off on Wednesday at Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe.

However, with a 5-1 victory on the road in the first game, BUL have a huge advantage over the Masindi side that has surprised everyone including themselves by reaching thus far.

And if the first leg results are anything to go by, BUL and Vipers will most likely face off again and probably, the Jinja outfit can revenge that humiliating 8-1 loss they suffered in the 2021 final.
