Vipers SC have announced their first choice goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora will not be available until next season.

Mutombora who missed the top of the table clash against KCCA on Saturday, will also sit out of the remaining six fixtures due to a head injury.

Following the 2-1 victory at Lugogo, the Venoms went 12 points clear at the summit of the Uganda premier league table. However, they will have to negotiate games against Gaddafi FC, Express FC, Onduparaka FC, Wakiso Giants FC, SC Villa and Police FC without their number one shot stopper.

The Burundian will also miss Vipers’ Uganda Cup quarter final game against Wakiso Giants, the semifinals and final provided they make it up to the end.

Mutombora’s unceremonious end of the season stems from the head injury he sustained in the game against URA FC on Tuesday last week at the Arena of Visions, Ndejje.
A statement on club website said scans had suggested he suffered a zygomatic bone fracture.

“Mutombora, unfortunately, will be out until next season. That is a blow for him and a blow for us,” Coach Robertinho Oliviera told club media.
“He has been fantastic,” the coach added.

With Mutombora’s absence,Denis Kiggundu will hope to use the performance against KCCA as a motivation to impress in the forthcoming matches.

The league leaders are also likely to be without Paul Willa and Ibrahim Orit who have been out for some time now.
