Mpigi accident kills four


Four people have been confirmed dead following an accident which occured at Wamatovu in Katende, along the Masaka- Kampala highway, on Easter Sunday at around 8pm.

According to Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic police spokesperson, the accident involved motor vehicle reg no. UBB 288W a fuso box body, a motorcycle reg no. UDG 002S Bajaj Boxer, and Premio Reg no UAV 137E.


She revealed that the deceased who were yet to be identified by press time, include one female adult, a female juvenile and two male adults including the rider. Three unknown victims were rushed to various unknown clinics for medical attention.

“Investigations are underway to establish what caused the accident. The motorcycle and the premio involved have been towed and parked at Mpigi Police station as efforts to remove the Fuso box body that is loaded with cement is underway, Nampiima said.

She added, “we continue to appeal to all drivers and road users traveling from upcountry back from Easter Holidays to drive with discipline on the road.”
