Wakiso Giants Wednesday returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3-1 victory over Mbarara City at Wakisha Stadium in Wakiso.

Sam Ssenyonjo, Titus Ssematimba and Ivan Bogere scored the goals for the Purple Sharks while Charles Ssempa got Mbarara City the consolation.

Although the visitors were eager to register their first win in ten games, it was Wakiso Giants who showed intent to win as soon as referee George Nkurunziza blew the first whistle.

Striker Sam Ssenyonjo headed the home side infront off a Joshua Lubwama corner early in the game but Mbarara City levelled through a Charles Sempa penalty after the half time break.

Ssenyonjo also had an opportunity to get Wakiso’s second in between but missed from 12 yards.

However,it was not too long before the hosts were ahead again thanks to another header this time from midfielder Titus Ssematimba.

To sum it up, then substitute Ivan Bogere sealed all the three points in stunning fashion when he sent in a 40 yard long lob that left Ankole Lions goalkeeper Martin Elungat in wonderland.

Following the victory, Wakiso Giants sit in 7th place in the table on 30 points after 20 matches while Mbarara City are third from bottom with 17 points.

On match day 21,Wakiso Giants make a short trip to Bombo to face UPDF on Tuesday March 15 while Mbarara City visit Onduparaka the following day.

Elsewhere, UPDF and Arua Hill settled for a l-1 draw in a game played at the Bombo Military Barracks.

Ibrahim Wamaana put the home side ahead on the stroke of half time but Steven Kabuye rescued a point for Arua Hill three minutes from full time.
