SC Villa put their off the pitch controversies aside and got to a perfect start into the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Police FC on Friday.

In a game played at the Kavumba Recreation Centre, second half Sadam Masereka scored late in the match to give new coach Petros Koukouras a dream debut.

Having been excluded from the league fixture for failure to fullfil basic licensing requirements, the Jogoos were playing their first game of the season.

For Police, it was game number four and unfortunately, all of them have ended in defeats.

Like the coach Petros Koukouras, the league record winners had four of their new signings making debuts.

These included defender and eventual man of the match Kenneth Ssemakula, Ali Bayo, Joseph Kafumbe and forward Oscar Mawa.

On the other hand, the under- fire Abdallah Mubiru and his charges would wish to put their house in order before hosting champions Express next Tuesday if they are to avoid a fifth successive loss in the season.
