Goalkeeper and captain Ruth Aturo Tuesday stood big and tall between the posts as home side Ethiopia fall 2-1 to Uganda on penalties in the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The shoot- out followed a 2-0 second leg victory for the home side that had cancelled out a similar scoreline by the Uganda Crested Cranes over a week ago.

During the intense spot kicks at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, substitute Hasfa Nassuna and Fauzia Najjemba converted for Uganda. Joan Nabirye and Sumaya Komuntale missed.

Ethiopia had two of their kicks saved by Ruth Aturo, two went out and one successfully converted.

In normal time,Ethiopia had scored two first half goals through Senaf Wakuma and captain Loza Abera.
