Douglas Bamweyana has left his coaching role at Wakiso Giants citing poor start to the season.
“Whereas, I fully own and regret the terrible results from our opening two league games against KCCA FC and Vipers SC – I was very confident that we will change the tide and real quick,”Kawowo Sports quotes part of a letter which the coach allegedly tendered to the club authority on Sunday.
Bamweyana and his boys have had a terrible start to the 2021/22 season suffering heavy defeats in all of their first two games.
The Purple Sharks lost 3-0 to KCCA FC at home on Matchday One before they were thumped 5-0 by Vipers SC at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday.
Although the club has yet to comment on the matter, reports suggest that the coach on Monday bid farewell to the players and also left the team’s Whatsapp Group.
Bamweyana signed a three-year deal at Wakiso Giants FC in June last year.
Bamweyana was the fourth coach to be in charge of the Purple Sharks since 2019 when they earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
The other coaches including Kefa Kisaala, Charles Livingstone Mbabazi and Deo Sserwadda who served on interim basis.
Wakiso Giants FC will make a trip to the MTN Omondi Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday) to face Police FC.
A similar fixture last season ended in a goalless draw.
