Uganda Airlines is set to launch its first international flight today.
According to Jennifer Bamuturaki, the Airlines acting CEO, the 258 passenger Airbus neo will make its maiden route to Dubai today.
Speaking at the ongoing Dubai expo 2020, Bamuturaki said the flight is a step in the right direction for trade between the two countries.
She said the crane that flies to Dubai on Monday is a three class with Business, Premium economy and Economy class with capacity to carry 37,000 tonnes of cargo.
She revealed that 100 people had so far paid to fly with the crane as it takes on its maiden Dubai challenge.
It’s expected according to Bamuturaki, that the Airline that is taking baby steps will in 10 years reach a point where it can manage its own costs.
“This route presents cheaper Dubai flights for Ugandans but also puts Uganda Airlines in direct competition with other Airlines including; FlyDubai, Emirates, and Ethiopian Airways,” she noted.
The Crane will, starting from today October 4th be flying to Dubai three times a week.
