The Uganda Cranes squad of local based players has been trimmed further to 23 members.
This is after head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic dropped more five players on Thursday.
Brian Aheebwa, Musa Ramathan and Herbert Achai all from KCCA as well as URA FC duo of Ashraf Mandela and Patrick Mbowa are the latest victims of Micho’s knife.
They join Davis Kasirye, David Bagoole, Joachim Ojera, George Kaddu and Ibrahim Wammanah who exited camp yesterday.
The players selected from Uganda Premier League clubs are expected to be joined by about ten foreign based players as Uganda continue to prepare for two back to back fixtures against Rwanda in the Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
The national team earlier today beat KCCA 2-1 in a trial game held at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
Denis Iguma and Milton Karisa got the goals for the Cranes while Charles Lwanga scored for KCCA FC.
After two games, Uganda are 3rd on two points behind Kenya (two points) and eventual group E leaders Mali (four points).
The Cranes take on bottom side Rwanda on 7th October in Kigali with the return leg set for October 10, 2021 at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
