The police have revealed that 712 motorcycles,147 motor vehicles were impounded and 250 suspects were arrested on Monday night over violation of curfew regulations in the Kampala Metropolitan area.
The force had warned motorists during the day that they would too will be arrested on top of impounding their motorcycles and vehicles, for operating past curfew time.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy KMP spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that the operation was done by security agencies enforcing curfew time.
“Following the operations on curfew compliance in Kampala Metropolitan area, the territorial police yesterday 27th, September impounded 712 motorcycles, 147 motor vehicles and arrested 250 suspects,”
Oweyesigyire said the suspects who are currently detained at different police stations will be released on police bond and issued with express penalty tickets which they will have to pay first for their vehicles and motorcycles to be released.
He further advised the public to plan their journeys in time to avoid clashing with the police.
“These operations are continuous. The members of the public are once again advised to plan their journeys quiet early to avoid any inconveniences,” He cautioned.
