Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced that the Semifinals of the 2020/21 Stanbic Uganda Cup will be played on a one-legged basis.
Despite suspending the competition indefinitely a few weeks back, Fufa revealed Monday in a statement that it will this time round go on.
The first semi final fixture will have Police entertain Vipers SC on the 21st of September, 2021.
Premier League champions Express FC will play against Bul FC the following day.
On September 22, the winners of the respective fixtures will face off in the final, according to a program seen by Sta Daily Sport.
The federation also confirmed all games will be played at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
However, before the games were suspended, Vipers and Bul had reportedly shown intent of not taking part. The two sides had cited lack of value for the competition since Fufa had already confirmed URA as Uganda’s representative to the CAF Confederation Cup a slot normally given to Uganda Cup winners.
Another reason, the clubs said most of their players who who were eligible for the tournament had since moved to other teams.
Therefore, it’s now left to be seen if all the four teams will bow to pressure from the football governing body and honor the games as scheduled.
