Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football Club have confirmed the return of former goalkeeper James Alitho to the club on a two-year contract.
Alitho returns from Zanaco FC of Zambia where he has been since 2019 when he left the Tax Collectors.
The towering goalkeeper who had earlier joined URA from Vipers SC, will now stay at the club until 2023.
In his maiden interview after announcing the return, Alitho told URA official website that the come back was inevitable.
“I’ve grown to love the proverb that “East or west, home is best”, home is indeed best because I feel there is no other place I would rather be. It is a pleasure for me to return to this special club that I happen to love so much.”
He joins Nafian Alionzi and youngster Samuel Mwaka as the three contenders for the club’s number one jersey.
Alitho’s new boss, goalkeeper coach Stephen Billy Kiggundu is optimistic the new acquisition will use his experience to improve a department that suffered due to injuries. ” Of course Alitho comes with a lot of experience to our young team and will help us in the department especially for the fact that we struggled with injuries last season,” he said.
Having played at the top level for some time now, Alitho’s experience will be vital for URA on the continent.
