African football power houses Egypt and Nigeria have been drawn in the same group of the 2021 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations.
The two nations are in group D alongside Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.
This followed a draw for the final tournament held in Yaoundé on Tuesday 17 August as the 24 qualified teams were pitted into six groups of four.
In group A, hosts Cameroon, Burkina Faso look to be favorites while Cape Verde and Cecafa representatives Ethiopia complete the group.
Group B has Senegal as outright favorites while others are Uganda Cranes tomentors in qualifiers Malawi, Zimbabwe and Guinea.
Morocco, Ghana, Comoros and 2017 hosts Gabon were pitted into group C.
Notably, defending champions Algeria are in group E alongside Sierra-Leone, Equatorial Guinea and former winners Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).
The tournament will take place from 9th January to 6th February 2022.
The opening match will pit tournament host and five-time Africa Cup of Nations winners Cameroon against Burkina Faso, runners-up of 2013 AFCON.
