A man was Wednesday evening arrested for allegedly attempting to attack Masindi Resident District Commissioner (Rdc) Rose Kobusinge Kirabira with a knife.
According to reports, the man has been identified as Joseph Serugo, 38 year, and a resident of Gayaza B village Nangabo sub county Wakiso district where Kirabira worked as an RDC before being transferred to Masindi district.
No sooner had the Rdc entered office from the field than Serugo followed her. He was however stopped by her personal secretary and the security guard but he insisted he wanted to meet Kirabira.
As the secretary continued to interrogate the man’s exact reason for seeking audience from the RDC, something strange happened.
It’s said the man claimed he wanted to give her [Rdc) a document.
However, in the process of pulling out the purported documents from Serugo’s pockets,a knife poped out prompting her body guard to arrest him before he was handed over to Masindi police.
“I am in office to serve the people and I could not tell Serugo’s motive of wanting to see me with a knife,” Kirabira said.
However, when he was being taken to the police station, reports say Serugo denied any evil motive against the Rdc noting he is a businessman in Kijura town in Masindi municipality and that he had come to the RDC to request for money to boost his business.
The acting Masindi District Police Commander (DPC) Edinah Nyiraneza confirmed the reports revealing she was informed of Serugo’s arrest by the RDC before sending officers who picked and took him to Masindi police station where he was being held as investigations into the matter continue.
