Kyetume Football Club Wednesday lost 3-1 against Mbarara City in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Striker Henry Kitegenyi scored twice and Hillary Mukundane added a goal for Mbarara while Richard Matovu got Kyetume’s consolation from a penalty spot.
Having lost 14 games out of the 27 played so far, Kyetume sits third from bottom on 23 points, three off safety, with just three games left.
The defeat on Wednesday thus means the Mukono based side could be edging closer to relegation than safety.
For Mbarara, the win was their 10th in 27 games and are currently 7th on 38 points.
Kitara and MYDA are the two teams that have already been relegated. And with performances like the one exhibited on Wednesday by Kyetume, the third and final team could be known sooner than later.
Meanwhile the league secretariat has announced a change in kickoff time for the remaining matches in the 2020/21 season.
All games will now kickoff at 3:00pm instead of the usual 4:00pm.
According to a notice sent to all stakeholders, the move is intended to leave more time for parties to beat the curfew which starts at 9pm.
“Considering the government partial lockdown due to the prevailing covid-19 situation in the country, the UPL Secretariat has adjusted the kickoff time for all the remaining SUPL fixtures to 3:00pm effective Friday 18th June 2021,” part of the notice revealed.
