FIFA president Gianni Infantino has sent a message to South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe following his election to the CAF Presidency.
Motsepe was on Friday confirmed as the newly elected CAF boss after remaining unopposed at the general assembly in Rabat, Morocco.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns president , who has had to step down due to his new position , becomes only the seventh different person to lead the 54 member association.
Infantino has since sent a message to the 59 year old , who takes over from Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmed following a tenure marred by Corruption .
“I want to wish all the very best for the next four years to the new leading team of CAF and to Patrice Motsepe , to all those who have been involved , to Augustin , Ahmed , Jacques and everyone,” said Infantino in a speech.
“I want to assure you that FIFA is not at your side. FIFA is together with you.”
The Swiss- German was also present at the assembly and issued a lengthy address prior to the day’s formalities being concluded.
