Vipers SC host BUL FC on Tuesday with one aim, to consolidate their position at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
The venoms have been impressive in the first 8 games , winning five and drawing 3 and have accumulated 18 points.
They have scored a whooping 22 goals the most in the league so far but coach Fred Kajoba is concerned about how his side leaks in unnecessarily. The champions have conceded ten times!
He however said the team will have to gradually improve on how they defend.
“There will be a few blushes here and there, but changes can’t happen in one or two days. Its a concern that we are continuously working on in our practice and there are good signs that things will get better,” he told club media on Monday.
BUL on the other hand, come into the game in a limping form. They are 13th with 7 points from 8 games.
The visitors have won just once in their last five games and still have, in their mind fresh memories of a 4-0 home humiliation by Express in their previous game.
Vipers sit two points above second placed Police and know that a victory will keep them on top of the log.
Having beaten Police in their last game , they come into this game with a lot of confidence and Kajoba believes this gives the team more morale.
“The team did an excellent job and displayed an unrelenting character in the previous win, however we need to keep focused and calm going into the next fixtures because the going is only getting tougher,” the coach revealed to the club website.
The last time the two sides met, Vipers were 3-2 winners over their Tuesday visitors but coach Arthur Kyesimire is optimistic his boys can turn the tables around at a pitch they haven’t won a game before.
“We are ready to travel tomorrow to Vipers, St Mary’s Kitende. We are playing a team that is on top of the table, we are not having a good run – they’re having a good run especially at home but we know they are not invincible. we have prepared well and we hope to get points there tomorrow,” he told Bul FC media.
Denis Kiggundu will miss the game for Vipers due to injury leaving Bashir Sekagya and Fabien Mutombora as the available goalkeepers ready for for selection.
According to information released on the club website, Ceasar Manzoki who limped off in the game against Police on Friday,is fine and available for selection.
Defender Rashid Toha has also resumed training with his teammates but the club said he would be subjected to a late fitness test to determine his readiness.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without midfielder Abdul Malik Vitalis Tabu who’s yet to recover from a toe injury.Right back Peter Onzima is also still nursing a groin injury while striker Deogracious Ojok won’t make the trip because of a knock.
Others to miss the game areJoseph Ssemujju who’s yet to fully recover from an injury and Kenneth Ssemakula who is currently on national duty with Uganda U-20 team in Mauritania for AFCON finals.
A Victory for the home side will see them jump to 21 points while a rare away win for BUL FC will move them to 10 points.
My prediction Vipers 2-1 BUL
