Police FC head into their StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter against Kyetume FC on Friday at the MTN Omondi Stadium hoping to secure their 4th league victory in the season.
Out of five games played so far, the Cops have won three scoring eleven goals in the process and conceding just twice.
Coach Abdallah Mubiru’s boys currently lie 4th in the table with 10 points whereas Kyetume is 7th with 9 points from equal number of games played.
The Cops’ record against the Slaughters is quite impressive having been victorious in their last two league meetings but Mubiru thinks the visitors could present much resistance than before.
“We know the challenge ahead of us, but we are prepared for it,” Mubiru told club media on Thursday afternoon.
The coach will have to work without many of his stars including his top scorer Ben Ochen, Frank Tumwesigye, Mawadda Mawejje, Samuel Kayongo, Fahad Kizito who are all injured as well as youngster Derrick Kakooza who’s away on national duty with the Uganda Under 20 ( Hippos) team which in taking part in the Afcon finals in Mauritania.
“It is unfortunate we have a couple of injuries, but we are in position to raise a team that we believe will compete,” he added.
Police’s last league engagement was a battle between armed forces which the former lost 1-0 to current table leaders UPDF.
Kyetume on the other hand, claimed a 1-0 win against BUL.
The cops will bank on the services of Tom Ikara, Denis Rukundo,Odongo while the slaughters will rely on Joel Mutakubwa, Mustafa Mujuzi and Isaac Kirabira.
A victory for the cops would see them top the league with 13 points while a victory for Kyetume would see them climb to the 4th place.
