Uganda Cranes and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango says he is working hard to have as many clean sheets as possible this season.
The colourful goalkeeper has been the back bone of Mamelodi’s compelling performances and resurging run this campaign
Onyango is currently in great form and it is not a surprise that out of 14 league appearances so far, the number one Masandawana goalkeeper has conceded only four goals and has ten clean sheets to his name.
“My personal Target is to get as many clean sheets as I can, to help the team with the fourth league title in a row and become the first team to do that as there is no team that has done that.It is possible to do that but I can’t do it alone. We must do it as a team , sometimes I might not play , but there are other goalkeepers that can also help. I must also make sure that I support them .
The support I get from the keepers is incredible and it pushes me to do better. The season is long,we have champions league and it won’t be easy but it’s the path we chose for ourselves and if we fight, we will do well and defend our domestic titles,” the Cranes skipper has told club media.
Last season, Onyango played twenty one league games and had eight clean sheets, meaning he has already bettered the tally.
The Brazilians are table leader of the DStv Premiership with 33 points from 15 games.
Their next league game will be on Wednesday 17th February, 2021 against Baroka.
