Uganda Cranes and Azam FC goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya says he’s delighted for having helped his new side pick a point against Simba SC.
Despite conceding twice, the debutant custodian put up a man of the match performance thus making sure the Ice cream makers draw 2-2 with the reigning champions at the Benjamin Mpaka stadium on Sunday in Vodacom premier league.
The former Forest rangers shot stopper saved apenalty to deny the Msimbazi Giants ..He spoke to this website on how he felt about his performance;
“I’m happy that I played my first league game at my new club but most importantly , we got a point away from home.
“I gave my myself a challenge.I need to keep working extra hard to keep up with top performances.I need to keep building from that performance so that I help my team win upcoming games,” he said.
Azam is home to another Ugandan, Cranes defender Nicholas Wadada. After the stalemate on Sunday, Azam reached 33 points and remain third in the 18 team table.
Their next league encounter will be against Coastal Union on Thursday this week.
