A former Presidential Candidate in the just concluded Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) Elections, Eddie Okila has petitioned the National Council of Sports (NCS) asking for nullification of the process.

Okila lost to Sadik Nasiwu last month. The three time contestant collected 28 votes against 21 for then incumbent Hadijja Namanda and 226 for the winner Sadik Nasiwu.

According to a petition dated 1st February 2021, co signed by Hassan Sekajolo who also lost the General Secretary position, Okila alleges that the elections were marred by countless irregularities.

The WADVA pair states that, list of affiliates were exaggerated and many of them were not bona fide delegates or volleyballers and therefore had no business in congress.

NCS General Secretary, Patrick Ogwel acknowledged receipt of the petition on 2nd February 2021.

‘We have forwarded the petition to our legal team, but we have also tasked the petitioners to submit proof of the irregularities’ Ogwel said.

The financial reports, returning officers report and congress attendance list will come in handy.

In the last two elections lost by Okila, he had always threatened to take legal actions, this time he has made good of his threats.
