Viane Ssekajugo and Steven Mukwala scored in each half of the game respectively as Uganda beat Zambia 2-0 in their second match of the Pre CHAN Mini Tournament at Annex 1-Omnisports- in Yaounde, Cameroon on Monday afternoon.

Ssekajugo put the Uganda Cranes into the lead in the 25th minute and held on until the break.

However, before the Cranes went in front, Emmanuel Chabula had forced a fine save from Ugandan goalkeeper, Alionzi Nafian in what remained as the biggest chance for Chipolopolo in the half.

Meanwhile, Steven Mukwala made sure his coach Johnathan Mckinstry end the day happier than his good friend Milutin Micho Sredojevic. He teased goalkeeper Charles Kalumba twice before he made it 2-0 in the 60th minute.

Micho was once a Uganda Cranes coach. He is currently the man at the helm of the Copper Bullets (Chipolopolo) of Zambia|FAZ.

The win means Micho has lost the first encounter against a side he took to the Afcon finals in 2017. The Cranes had tried but in vain to return to the stage they had last stepped onto in 1978.

Mckinstry’s first eleven men against Zambia had Tonny Mawejje as the only one who started in the 1-1 draw with hosts Cameroon in the first game.

Captain Halid Lwaliwa, Paul Willa, Eric Senjobe and Hassan Muhammad made sure their backline stand strong.

Tonny Mawejje, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Said Kyeyune controlled the midfield while Naifian Alionzi stood firm between the posts to deny the Zambians any chance.

The Cranes who have now collected four points from two games, will return to action on Thursday 7th January 2021 against Niger as Zambia play against Cameroon on the same day.

The four teams are preparing for the Chan finals that will take place in Cameroon from January 16 to February 7, 2021.
