President Museveni confirms his soldiers killed boxer Ssenyange

Ssenyange was gunned down in the wee hours of Wednesday and his body has been laid to rest in Masulita, Kanzizi.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed his soldiers shot and killed former national team boxing Captain Zebra Isaac Ssenyange alias Mando. “When I heard of the unfortunate death of Isaac Ssenyange alias Mando Zebra, Uganda’s boxer and former captain of the Bombers. I telephoned his wife who narrated to me the events in detail,” the president said.

While delivering his end of year address to the nation, Mr Museveni said Zebra was an NRM supporter, and was mobilising for for the party so well. The president also applauded Ssenyange for training many youth in the ghetto and said he was giving them hope in their search for a meaningful life.

“Indeed, Zebra was meant to come and see me when he was killed.

Zebra’s wife told me people in police uniform came to pick Zebra but he jumped over the wall and could have met another group who shot him,” president Museveni added.

However Museveni said he ” at first I thought they were thugs disguising in uniform, but as I continued investigations, I found out that Zebra was killed by security personnel.”

“This is sad and devastating and I AM VERY SORRY about this. I will keep on this case and will bring every finding to the knowledge of his family and the murderers will be dealt with accordingly. I AM SO SORRY,” said president Museveni.

Ssenyange, a former professional boxer, has been working with the Uganda Boxing Federation as a national teams manager and official in charge of general duties.
