The Uganda People’s Defence Forces’ spokesperson , Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso has denied claims that a military police vehicle hit one of Robert Kyagulanyi’s bodyguards leading to his death.
Byekwaso, through social media, says that the late Francis Senteza Kalibala commonly known to his peers as Frank fell of a speeding car, registration number 850Z.
“UPDF would like to clarify that the late Senteza Frank a NUP candidate close protection person was not knocked by a Military Police Vehicle as purported, but rather fell off a speeding Car Reg No UBF 850z (Drone) he tried to jump to but fell off,” Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso tweeted.
“What a sad day . Ssenteza Frank, a personal bodyguard to Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert has been deliberately knocked dead by a military truck No. H4DF 2382 in Busega as we drove from Masaka to Kampala to get further treatment for Kasirye Ashraf, a journalist working with Ghetto media who was shot in the head by police as we headed to Lwengo for our campaigns.
Rest In Peace Comrade,” the National Unity Platform said via their social media handles on Sunday.
Frank had been rushed to Rubaga hospital where doctors tried to revive him but failed. He was reportedly knocked as the Kyagulanyi’s convoy drove journalist Ashraf Kasirye from Masaka to Kampala for further medical attention after he was injured as police dispersed NUP supporters in Masaka.
Frank’s body is currently being kept at the NUP headquarters in Kamwokya, Kampala. The burial is expected to be at his ancestral home in Masaka tomorrow
