The Uganda Under 20 National team, the Hippos have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations due to take place in Mauritania next year.
This is after they beat Kenya 3-1 on Monday in the first of the two semi finals of the Cecafa Under 20 Challenge Cup currently taking place in Tanzania.
Kenneth Semakula gave Uganda the lead just after 22 minutes into the game while Ivan Bogere doubled the scoreline in the 25th minute.
Bogere later put the game beyond Kenya’s reach when he converted into the net a penalty in the 63rd minute after the goal keeper brought down midfielder Mugulusi Isma.
Enock Wanyama pulled one back for Kenya in the 80th minute but it could only serve as a consolation for the neighbors.
In the final, coach Morley Byekwaso and his boys will take on the winner of Tanzania versus South Sudan game which takes place later on Monday afternoon.
Whoever wins between Hosts Tanzania and South Sudan will join Uganda as Cecafa representatives to the AFCON U-20 finals that will be staged in Mauritania come 2021.
