Uganda Cranes Head coach Johnathan McKinstry has Tuesday October 27, 2020 released a list of 22 locally based players who will soon start preparing for the forthcoming double header against South Sudan.
McKinstry said the 22 players will undergo a special rigorous training between the 2nd and 8th of November, 2020.
On assessment, he said at least five players would be selected to join a 20 man foreign based squad that he earlier summoned.
Coach Jonathan McKinstry told the official FUFA website that:
“As previously announced, in addition to the squad of 20 foreign based players for the upcoming double header against South Sudan in the A, we would be looking to adding 5 or 6 Uganda Premier League players to the mix so that they can compete for places in the squad.
In order to give the local based players the best support, we will be running an advance camp between 2nd and 8th November.”
The coach also revealed that there could be some early arrivals of foreign based players whose leagues are not ongoing at the moment to join those in camp in Kampala.
He said that the camp would also be of help to the local based players in pushing their levels higher which could see them favorably competing against their foreign counterparts for the two games against South Sudan.
Uganda will take on South Sudan on 12th November at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende before facing off again 4 days later in Nairobi.
