The Uganda Police Force alongside other sister security agencies have Wednesday deployed heavily and raided the National Unity Platform (NUP) Headquarters in Kamwokya, a Kampala suburb.

Both the Police and Military are yet to reveal the objective of the said raid but sources have told this website that the security officers have searched and confiscated the red berets.

Last year, the government of Uganda designated the berets as official Military ware and said anybody other than the military found with them would be considered criminal and would be charged in courts of law.

The NUP leader and Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine has thus twitted; “The military, police and other security agencies have laid siege on the National Unity Platform Platform offices in Kamwokya. Several of our staff have been arrested or injured. They are breaking into the different offices, taking all documents and other valuables. The dictator is is in total panic!”

By the time of the raid, NUP officials were holding a meeting with party coordinators, some reports have suggested.

This is a developing story that may be updated any time soon.
