The fallen former Mayor of Kampala, Al Hajj Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala will be buried next week, the family has said.
His brother, the MP Kawempe North Latif Ssebaggala said the decision was reached by the family and it’s to allow time for all his children to converge.
“As the family of Al Hajj Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala ,we have decided that the late will be burried after all his children who are in diaspora have arrived in Uganda next week.
This has been done in respect to his WILL(ekyilaamo) that he left, whereby he clearly stated that all his children have to be their for his burial, therefore we have followed and honoured his decision.”
However, Latif Ssebaggala who did not specify the exact date for his brother’s burial, had earlier in the day said he would be laid to rest tomorrow Sunday.
The former City Mayor was pronounced dead at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) where he had been admitted for the last three weeks.
Latif said his brother had an accident in the bathroom and he was rushed to IHK. He added that the now deceased was diagnosed with an intestinal obstruction.
“Our brother (Nasser Ssebagala) fell in the bathroom three weeks ago and was rushed here at IHK. It was discovered that he had got an intestinal obstruction and was pronounced dead this morning,” Latif said.
“He has been our father because he is the heir to our father and we shall greatly miss him. We pray to the Almighty Allah to forgive him where he has gone,” he added before breaking down.
Ssebagala was Mayor of Kampala between 2006 and 2011.
