Evariste Ndayimishimiye, the newly elected Burudian President is set to make his first state visit to Tanzania tomorrow Saturday September 19, 2020.
A program released by Tanzanian government indicate that Gen Ndayishimye will arrive in Kigoma, a northern township of the country Saturday morning and will be received by his counterpart President John Pombe Magufuli.
Afterwards, the two leaders will head to Lake Tanganyika stadium before launching the Tanzania high court building in Kigoma.
It’s expected that they thereafter, Magufuli and his visitor will hold official talks at Kigoma palace and the guest will later depart.
This will be President Ndayishimiye’s first official visit outside Burundi since his election in May 2020.
President Ndayishimiye was expected to attend a mini summit in Goma-DR Congo at the invitation of President Felix Tshisekedi few days back. He however shockingly declined the invitation without giving much details.
Ndayishimiye, a former bush war hero, replaced late former bush war comrade Pierre Nkurunziza who succumbed to cardiac arrest this year.
Tanzania is considered a strategic key ally for Burundi in as far as the latter’s politics and economic dynamics are concerned.
