Kenya international Michael Ogada Olunga has won the Meiji Yasuda Konami player of August.

League officials have September 11, 2020 announced the Kenyan International as the month’s Most Valuable Player. “The 2020 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE Konami Monthly MVP for August goes to none other than @OgadaOlunga of @REYSOL_Official!”

The striker says he’s humbled and thanked God for the accolade.
“Its humbling to be named the Meiji Yasuda Konami August 2020 MVP.
Firstly to thank God for His unending grace. Secondly, My team mates, coaching staff, surbodinate staff, and fans for their support. Thanks, and to many more . Inshallah .GOD ABOVE ALL”, Olunga says in a tweet.

Olunga returned to action and was on the scoresheet as Kashiwa Reysol hammered Gamba Osaka 3-0 in a J1-League match played on Wednesday. This was his 15th goal in 15 matches!

The former Gor Mahia forward had missed two straight matches for Resyol – against Shimizu S-Pulse in a 2-1 win and also the J-League Cup match against their top-tier rivals Osaka Cerezo on September 2.

However, the ”goal engineer’ was reinstated into the starting squad against Osaka and did not disappoint as he powered home the opener in the second minute of the match.
