Covid-19: Uganda’s cumulative numbers exceed 2000 as MoH confirms 97 new cases

Uganda continues to register high numbers of Covid-19 positive cases with 97 new infections. These, the Ministry of Health said were confirmed from tests done on 22 August 2020.

And as a result, the cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans has now risen to 2,263.

A statement released by the Ministry Sunday afternoon revealed Kampala had 59 of the 90 contacts and alerts that were identified.

Others came from Wakiso ( 11), Buikwe (6) Luweero (3), Namisindwa( 3), Mukono ( 2), Jinja ( 2) and one (1) each from Kabale, Amuru, Oyam and Tororo. There was also one (1) returnee from Mali.

The Ministry also said six (6) truck drivers from different points of entry who tested positive for Covid-19 and are accounted for as follows;
Malaba ( 2), Busia ( 2), Mpondwe (1) and Padea (1).

Meanwhile, ten (10) foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted according to the Ministry of Health.
