Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau made his debut for Belgian giants Anderlecht on Sunday evening and marked the occasion in style with his first goal for the club.
Having joined the Belgian outfit on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion at the start of the month, Tau finally made his debut for the club on Sunday during a 3-1 league victory over Sint-Truiden.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns forward entered the field of play as a 64th-minute substitute for Michel Vlap and netted Anderlecht’s third goal of the night in stoppage-time, earning his side their first win over the season in the process.
Earlier in the encounter, Bogdan Mykhaylichenko had given the record 34-time champions the lead just before half-time, before Nany Dimata doubled their advantage minutes into the second half.
Sint-Truiden were then reduced to 10 men after Ibrahima Sankhon was sent off but pulled one back through Nelson Balongo with just minutes remaining on the clock, leaving Anderlecht with a nervy end to the match.
Tau put those nerves to rest just minutes later, however, when he popped up with a superbly taken goal to announce himself to the Anderlecht faithful, and secure all three points for his side on the night. – KICK OFF.COM
