Uganda’s Capital City Kampala has registered the highest number of new Covid-19 infections according to results released by Ministry of Health on Sunday.
Out of the 66 new cases confirmed in Uganda from the samples tested on August 15, 2020, Kampala has 39, accounting for more than 50% of the new infections.
Among the 39, 30 were alerts while 9 are contacts to previously confirmed cases.
The Ministry of Health also confirmed seven alerts from Wakiso while six came from Namisindwa. There were other ten coming from Tororo, Moroto, Katakwi, Buikwe, Bukwo, Bundibugyo, Mbale, Isingiro, Hoima and Buliisa.
In addition to the nine contacts from Kampala, the Ministry said there were other two cases from Namisindwa and Nakaseke.
Two of the 66 cases were returnees: One of whom came from Ethiopia, while the other returned from Oman .
Todate, the cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 1,500 while recoveries have reached 1,142.
The Ministry also announced 16 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted
