Uganda has August 14, 2020 registered its 12th coronavirus death of a 65-year-old male, a resident of Kampala.

The deceased was admitted in Nsambya hospital and later transferred to China-Uganda Friendship hospital after developing signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19, the ministry of Health said.

The deceased becomes the 9th COVID-19 death that has been confirmed in the Kampala Metropolitan Area in the last 3 weeks.

Relatedly, 32 COVID-19 cases were confirmed from the 4,289 samples tested yesterday August 13, 2020, which include 17 alerts of which 10 are from Kampala, two from Luweero, 3 from Mbale, and one each from Kagadi and Hoima.

There were also six contacts to the previously confirmed cases who tested positive including 3 from Kampala, 2 from Nakaseke and 1 from Tororo.

Among the six truck drivers who tested positive; 3 arrived from Kenya via Malaba and Busia while 3 arrived from South Sudan via Oraba and Waligo entry points.

Also, three returnees tested positive including two who arrived from Kenya and one from DR Congo.

19 foreign truck drivers – 12 Kenyans, 2 Congolese, 4 Tanzanians and one South Sudanese who tested positive were denied entry into the country.

Two arrested for stealing number plates in Kajjansi
