Updf receives first female spokesperson

Brig Gen. Flavia Byekwaso has become the first female to be appointed as Updf spokesperson, replacing Brig Richard Karemire.

“Please join me to welcome Hon Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso appointed the Defence Spokesperson following the end of my tour of duty. I have been assigned to EAC Secretariat as Defence Liaison Officer.I look forward to working on Integration as the solution for our strategic security,” outgoing spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire tweeted.

Brigadier Gen. Flavia Byekwaso is currently a member of parliament representing the army in the 10th Parliament.

Karemire has been appointed to the EAC secretariat as Defence Liaison Officer.

President Yoweri Museveni also commander-in-chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces, made other key appointments and changes.
