COVID -19: Uganda registers 3rd death


Uganda July 31 registered one COVID-19 death . This brings the total COVID-19 deaths to three.

The Ministry of health says the deceased is a 67 year old male,  of Nigerian origin and a resident of Kisenyi in Kampala.


A statement from the Ministry further said he presented symptoms consistent to Covid-19 which include cough, fever, chest pain,and difficulty in breathing and sought treatment from a private clinic. He later went to Kiruddu Referral Hospital where he was admitted and samples were taken off. Unfortunately, he passed on on July 29,2020.

“The samples analysed at Uganda Virus Research Insistute (UVRI) confirmed SARS- COV-2. So far, 15 contacts have been listed”, the Ministry said.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Health has confirmed the samples taken from a 27 year old male, a resident of Namisindwa District who collapsed and died on 29th, July, 2020 tested negative.

In the same vein, results from COVID-19 tests done on 30 July 2020 confirmed 7 new cases bringing the cumulative total of confirmed Ugandan cases to 1,154.
