Police in Uganda has reportedly intercepted and arrested former government spy and Presidential aspirant Charles Rwomushana plus Kabula County MPJames Kakooza immediately after a weekly night political tv show.
The two are regular panelists on the Barometer program on NBS TV and like every Tuesday, they had just gotten off air.
The other members of the panel were Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze, FDC mouth piece and Kira Municipality legislator Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda and National Unity Platform member Fred Nyanzi alias Chairman Nyanzi.
“NBS TV is under siege right now. They have blocked all the Barometer guests from leaving the station. Charles Rwomushana and MP Kakooza arrested,” a witness at the station told Nile Post shortly after the show.
Few minutes later, Rwomushana and Nyanzi used their social media platforms to confirm the matter.
“Arrested at NBS TV,” Rwomushana said.
“Hon James Kakooza let free, the others surrounded by police,” he added moments later.
“Tusaliddwako ku NBS TV” (We have been intercepted at NBS TV), Nyanzi twitted too.
By the time we filed this however, Police had not yet given reason for the arrest of the duo. And it was not yet clear whether the rest of the panelists had been left free.
